ALERT: Thousands across the region affected by Boil Water Notice
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Uisce Éireann has issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 6,474 customers supplied by the Lough Easkey Public Water Supply in Co Sligo.
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Uisce Éireann has issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 6,474 customers supplied by the Lough Easkey Public Water Supply in Co Sligo.
This notice is being issued due to a mechanical failure at Lough Easkey Water Treatment Plant. This could compromise the disinfection process at the water treatment plant, which makes the water safe to drink.
Customers can check if their property is included by visiting www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278.
The following group water schemes in Co Sligo are also affected by this notice – Ballygilcash, Kilglass, Lacken, Buncrowey, Ballymeeney, Ballygrehan, Patch, Upper Rathlee and Carrenrush.
Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love said: “We acknowledge the inconvenience of a Boil Water Notice on the local community and assure those impacted that we are working as quickly and efficiently as possible to lift the notice".
