Irish Chamber Orchestra has dates in West
The Irish Chamber Orchestra will perform in Westport and Clifden during September.
Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) lights up the month of September with two compelling offerings, a powerful one-night-only performance at the Westport Chamber Music Festival and a captivating three-date tour with Water Music, which includes a stop at the Clifden Arts Festival.
On Friday, September 12th, ICO makes a much-anticipated return to Westport, where ICO violinist André Swanepoel leads a vibrant and emotionally charged programme. Be enthralled by the deep expressiveness of Haydn’s and the bold intensity of Mozart’s . Bach’s joyful adds sparkle, before the concert takes an exhilarating turn with , a brand-new commission by acclaimed Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy, written for Ji Hye Jung (marimba) and Guy Johnston (cello). The evening closes in celebratory fashion with Bach’s , performed by Benjamin Schmid and Pablo Hernán Benedí.
From September 18th to 20th, ICO adds Clifden Arts Festival to its seasonal offering of Water Music in Limerick and Dublin. This mesmerising programme is steered by the internationally acclaimed conductor, Richard Egarr. Enjoy an elemental journey with Deirdre McKay’s , a hauntingly beautiful meditation on change and nature’s quiet power. Be swept away by the grandeur and festive brilliance of Handel’s , one of the most enduring and beloved works of the Baroque era.
