The Crossmolina Agricultural Show returns this Saturday, July 26 and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Gates will open at 7am to one of the country’s foremost agricultural shows offering a wide range of brand-new activities as well as Crossmolina Show favourites with fierce but friendly competition across a wide range of classes, music all day with Paddy Garven and all evening with Robert Padden and his band and activities galore for young and old.
All-Ireland Champions and local lads Crossmolina Deel Rovers will officially open the Show and the fun will continue throughout the day.
The show, a certified calendar highlight in the west of Ireland, is set to be massive with huge sections for cattle, goats, sheep, horses, poultry and dogs. There is a new class for pygmy goats this year. A new special attraction, the Kune Kune Pigs, will be on show in Crossmolina this year. The home industries section is also better than ever with a wide range of competitions.
The Crossmolina Show is also proud to host qualifiers for the Ireland West Young Horse Championship, which is a new class encouraging young people to get involved with bringing horses to shows. Qualifiers for the overall final in Ballinrobe must first get through a local show, such as Crossmolina, and there is a massive prize fund of over €2000 in the offering.
Some of the new competitions on offer include tractor and trailers reversing, tug of war and a donkey derby.
This year, kids go free with paying adults to the Crossmolina Agricultural Show and once they are through the gates, all rides, races and amenities are free for every youngster. Kids can expect activities such as giant Jenga and giant Connect 4, bracelet making, robot building, face painting and much more. There will also be events such as egg and spoon, wellie throwing and a sack race taking place.
There will also be a massive auction, a 50/50 draw and raffles for prizes such as a limited-edition kids Mayo jersey and signed Mayo Ladies jersey taking place.
It promises to be a fun-filled day not to be missed. Gates open at 7am this Sunday, July 26.
