Support for bereaved parents in Mayo

Anam Cara will hold a meeting in Castlebar next week.

Fifteen years ago, Anam Cara (soul friend) was set up by bereaved parents for bereaved parents. At that time, there were no support services across the island for parents who were numb, lost and grieving the passing of their child/children.

Fast forward to 2023, Anam Cara currently holds 14 face-to-face monthly meetings, online bereavement information evenings, a podcast 'Conversations in Grief' and many more services to support bereaved parents, the length and breadth of the country. All services are free of charge and are just a phone call or email away.

As we face into dark evenings, Anam Cara is encouraging bereaved parents to avail of its services – whether it be face to face or online. As one parent so eloquently commented, “thank you Anam Cara for being there and making a difference and never having any expectation of me at the start, just minded me and my partner as we grappled with our grief and pain”.

On Tuesday next, October 24, Anam Cara will hold its Mayo meeting in the TF Royal Hotel, Castlebar at 7.15pm. All bereaved parents from the Mayo area are welcome to attend, regardless of the age their child died or circumstances of death. There is no need to register, just arrive on the evening at 7.15pm.
