A Mayo man has been selected on the Ireland Over 40s men’s squad for next year’s Masters International Rules Series against Australia.

The Mayo GAA County Convention has heard of an urgent need for referees in order to meet the demand created by the number of games played in the calendar year.

The Mayo County Board’s overall expenditure on county teams has risen in 2023. Team administration expenses for the senior football, senior hurling, U20, U17 and Development teams are up to €1. 2 million in 2023 from €1. 083 million in 2022.

The Mayo County Board committee remains mostly unchanged following Sunday’s County Convention, with the exception of the election of a new honorary President.

The sign of any good club team in Gaelic games is how they give back and perhaps the most special crop of Tooreen players to come through is doing just that.
