Mayo are back in the All-Ireland shake-up but it’s not just the football team.
The popular and irreverent GAA podcast Mayo Are Back have been shortlisted for the ePower Sport Podcast Awards at the 2026 All-Ireland Podcast Awards.
The 2026 All-Ireland Podcast Awards shortlists have been unveiled with 200 entries across 12 categories.
Mayo Are Back, presented by the pseudonymous duo TJ and Fat Larry, will compete against established names in Irish sports broadcasting, including Off the Ball’s The Football Pod and the Irish Independent’s Indo Sport pod hosted by Joe Molloy.
While Mayo football is serious business in the county, TJ and Fat Larry take a somewhat different approach to discussing it. Their show is steeped in humour and craic, with the pair bringing a light-hearted, often irreverent take to the fortunes of the green and red.
The nomination places the Mayo show alongside some of the best-known names in Irish podcasting, with the awards recognising excellence across a range of genres.
Now in its second year, the All-Ireland Podcast Awards have expanded significantly for 2026, with six new categories introduced.
The winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 11, at Fitzgeralds Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick, as part of the Sound.Waves conference.
Andy Moran said ‘Mayo are back’ at the end of his RTÉ interview on the field at Croke Park after Mayo’s win on July 26. It is still not clear if that was a statement about Mayo football or a nod to the podcast.
But the lads could be joining Andy and Co as champions in their field.
TJ and Fat Larry often describe themselves as the ‘fourth or fifth most popular Mayo GAA podcast’. They may even move up to third if they win this one!
