Aghamore have been a long-established team in the senior grade but have not made quarter-final since 2020. It remains a tall order to get out of the group, but a great opportunity nonetheless presents itself.
Their victory away to Mayo Gaels was relatively straightforward, although a number of scores were left behind them, and the margin for error will be tighter against last year’s semi-finalists.
Sean Óg Tighe, David Kenny, Brendan Harrison, Liam Lavin and Fergal Boland all excelled and they will need to match efforts from over a week previously against Crossmolina, who defeated Ballintubber in an excellent game.
Even though Kobe McDonald is now plying his trade Down Under, Crossmolina still have as strong a team as any. Conor Loftus kicked five points and Jordan Flynn came off the bench to fire into the net, while James Maheady, Oisin Deane, Dylan Flynn and the Coggins brothers Niall and Diarmuid were among the ten different scorers in their five-point victory in St Tiernan’s Park.
A great game is on the cards and it is a close game to call, but Crossmolina’s all-round threat may be the difference and it will see them book their spot in the quarter-final.
Verdict: Crossmolina Deel Rovers
