Woman (50s) dies following farm-related incident

Gardaí have confirmed that a woman in her 50s died following an incident on a farm in Ballymote, Co Sligo over the weekend.

Gardaí and the emergency services were alerted to Clooncose, a rural area of Ballymote, shortly after 4.20pm last Saturday where a woman had been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while loading turf onto a trailer.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroner has been notified, and her body has been removed to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing, Gardaí have said.
