A Mayo man has returned home after completing a 2,200km walk across mainland Europe.

46-year-old Cathal Kelly from Swinford began his trek in Canterbury, England. He finished on October 10 in St Peter's Square in Vatican City.

Kelly started walking in early June. He spent 104 days hiking across northern France, Switzerland, and Italy to raise money for Mayo Parkinson's Association and Children's Health Foundation Crumlin.

So far, Kelly has raised over €52,000 - Kelly's Walk 2 Rome donation link  HERE
