Warning issued over swimming at Enniscrone beach
The notice has been issues for the popular beach
Enniscrone beach has been placed under an advisory notice warning users not to swim due to a risk of deteriorating water quality.
The HSE have been consulted and the notice will remain in place until water quality has been shown to be an acceptable standard.
Beach users are advised to avoid getting sea water on open cuts and wounds, to wash their hands before eating and to refrain from swallowing or splashing water.
People who are pregnant or have a weakened immune system are advised not to swim at the beach.
Sligo County Council say that while an elevated level of bacteria is possible at the beach, these bacteria are usually short-lived and most bathers are unlikely to experience any illness.
