Three has announced a solution to provide continued connectivity to residents of Ballycastle in Co. Mayo.
With the assistance of the OPW, local TDs including Minister Dara Calleary, and Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh, alongside local resident Dermot McMorrow, it has been confirmed that a new structure will be put in place towards the end of February which will enable residents to retain connectivity in the area, accessing calls, texts and data services across the Three Ireland network.
In the meantime, an extension has been granted at the existing site which was due to be decommissioned, ensuring seamless connectivity for Ballycastle residents until the new solution is in place.
Speaking about the breakthrough for the Ballycastle area, David Hennessy, Chief Technology Officer of Three Ireland, said: “This is a very positive development for the people of Ballycastle, and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to find a solution. I would like to extend our thanks to the OPW and local TDs who have put huge effort behind this issue, as well as my own team who have shown immense drive and dedication to find a solution. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to local resident Dermot McMorrow, who has very kindly allowed us to use his land in order to set up the required structure, which will allow connectivity levels to resume as required.”
