Two landmark Mayo town pubs up for sale
Two licensed premises in the heart of Castlebar have been listed for sale.
The Bodhran on Rush Street and Cox’s on Tucker Street are both on the market.
The sale of The Bodhran is being handled by Sherry Fitzgerald Durcan and has a guide price of €285,000.
It is described as having an attractive frontage and an established identity within the town, as well as being in turnkey condition at a convenient location, enhancing its appeal to prospective owners.
The sale of Cox’s, both the bar and restaurant, is being handled by Kevin Beirne Auctioneers with guide price available upon application. It is described as a landmark licensed premises prominently positioned in the heart of the town’s commercial and entertainment district.
The owners of Cox’s, Paul and Helen Doyle, announced the closure of Cox's last week on social media, citing the impact of the current trading environment on their decision.
"It is with considerable sadness that we announce the closure of Cox's Bars & Restaurant, Castlebar. This decision was not taken lightly. Despite our best efforts, the prolonged difficulties of the current trading environment have made it no longer possible to sustain the business,” they said.
“It is a conclusion we reached only after exhausting all alternatives, and we are deeply grateful for the loyalty and goodwill that has been shown to us throughout.”
