Three Mayo organisations are among five from Connacht who have been announced as national finalists in the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2025.

Kinaffe Community Garden near Swinford, a community garden that fosters emotional healing, connection, and confidence through nature-based learning for school children, along with Ballina’s Dragon Boat Club and Western Care Association’s ‘Count me in’ programme, are each in the running for the awards which aim to honour, showcase and celebrate the inspiring work being carried out nationwide by thousands of projects, clubs and individuals who have received support from Good Causes funding.

“It’s a privilege to unveil and celebrate this year’s national finalists in the Good Causes Awards,” said National Lottery CEO, Cian Murphy.

“This inspiring group of projects, organisations and individuals are transforming communities all over Ireland through their remarkable work. These finalists are a testament to the incredible difference that Good Causes funding makes every day, helping to build a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.”

Nearly 30 cents of every euro spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes all over the country.

“Everyone connected with the National Lottery should feel proud that since 1987, over €6.5 billion has been raised for thousands of Good Causes, including €239 million in 2024 alone, enabling success stories like these to flourish nationwide,” added Mr Murphy.

Also on the shortlist of Connacht finalists are Galway Community Circus and Gaillimh le Gaeilgem.
