Top post at Bank of Ireland for Mayo native

Erris native Ciaran Coyle has been appointed to a top position in Bank of Ireland Group.

A Mayo native has been appointed to a leading role at one of the country’s top financial institutions.

Ciarán Coyle, a native of Erris, has been appointed to the Bank of Ireland’s Group Executive Committee as its new Group Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mr Coyle commenced his role last month.

As Group COO of Bank of Ireland, he will lead the compan's technology, digital, data, payments and change delivery. 

Mr Coyle joins Bank of Ireland from Ulster Bank/NatWest Group where he most recently held the position of Managing Director, Retail Banking and previously as Chief Operating Officer. 

Mr Coyle’s business, strategic and operational experience will be key in the execution of the Bank of Ireland Group’s strategy, the bank said in a statement.

Group CEO Myles O’Grady welcomed the Mayo native to his new role.

“Bank of Ireland has successfully completed year one of its three-year strategy which will see it build stronger relationships with its customers, a simpler business, and a more sustainable company. The appointments of Ciarán is critically important, helping us further accelerate strategic delivery,” said Mr O’Grady.
