RTE weather presenter visits Mayo schools

Joanne Donnelly talking to students from St Tiernan's National School today

Children at St Tiernan’s and Keenagh National School were paid a visit by RTÉ and Met Eireann meteorologist and weather forecaster Joanna Donnelly.

Joanna is doing a series of talks around Mayo Library and talking about her book “The Great Irish Weather Book for Children.” Local councillor Michael Loftus said it was a great experience for the young children.

“It was lovely the way Joanna showed equipment relating to the weather, got the children involved then ask questions and got answers from the children,” he said.

“I want to thank the teachers from the schools and Maureen Gallagher for organising this event.”

In The Great Irish Weather Book for Children, Joanna explains what weather is and how it happens. From cold fronts to climate change, satellites to storms, this book contains everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the weather.
