Similarly to last year, Mayo County Council has agreed to grant free parking in the following car parks in Ballina from 2pm each day, from Monday, December 9 until Tuesday, December 31: Humbert Street, Bachelors Walk, Emmett Street, Barrett Street, Market Square, Pearse Street and Teeling Street.

Normal pay and display will be in operation at these locations from 9.30am until 2pm each day.

Director of Services Catherine McConnell said she and the other Directors of the other MDs agreed to a uniform approach across the county, meaning all towns in Mayo will have similar Christmas parking rules this year.

Head of the MD Declan Turnbull said it was agreed to not have free parking in the morning times to prevent workers from parking up all day and visitors and shoppers being unable to park.
