Public consultation on reduction of speed limits in towns

A public consultation is now under way to consider the reduction of speed limits in towns across Mayo to 30km/h.

Crossmolina-based Cllr Michael Loftus raised the matter at the October meeting of Mayo County Council, saying he believed not enough people were aware of the public consultation period. The Fianna Fáil councillor urged members of the public to engage in the consultation.

Details on the public consultation are available on Mayo County Council's website, search under 'Draft Road Traffic (Special Speed Limits) (County Mayo) Bye-Laws 2026 Public Consultation'.
