A total of €23,100 has been raised by a charity cycle undertaken by a Mayo garda in memory of his ‘Little Blue Hero’.

On June 15, 2025, Honorary Garda Saoirse Duggan of Claremorris Community Engagement Area sadly passed away and ascended to the rank of Heavenly Garda.

Saoirse was a beautiful, bright young member of Little Blue Heroes who was taken from all who loved and knew her far too soon. She now patrols the heavens, continuing to protect us all from above.

To honour Saoirse’s memory, Community Garda John Monaghan of Claremorris Garda Station undertook a 340km charity cycle, raising much-needed funds for Little Blue Heroes. Named “Saoirse’s Sunshine Cycle,” the event took place on 20 June 2026, during the weekend marking the first anniversary of Saoirse’s passing.

Little Blue Heroes is a charity that supports families of children with serious illnesses and relies entirely on fundraising and donations to continue its invaluable work.

On behalf of Garda Monaghan, An Garda Síochána Mayo would like to sincerely thank everyone who generously supported and donated to this wonderful cause. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, an incredible €23,100 was raised for Little Blue Heroes.
