The village of Breaffy will be left without a post office for the first time in 120 years. It was the end of an era when long-serving postmistress Patricia Curry retired from the role last week.
The Curry family have been synonymous with community life in the village near Castlebar, running the local shop before its closure a number of years ago as well as the post office.
Patricia had been postmistress since 2001.
An Post said the vacant postmaster position was advertised but there were no interested parties.
