A popular Mayo roadside restaurant has announced they will set up a full-time pizza shop in the heart of Ballina.

The Pizza Pod was established three years ago by Tony and Susan McCready from Foxford and have gone from strength to strength since, serving handmade, authentic Neapolitan style pizza.

Their mobile Pizza Pod has been a regular fixture at events across the north Mayo region and the wider county in the last three years, including the recent Foxford Traditional Weekend, and now the owners have announced plans for a ‘brick and mortar’ shop in Ballina.

“Myself and Susan have finally bitten the bullet and we’re going bricks and mortar,” said Tony, speaking on the Pizza Pod’s Facebook page.

“It’s the worst best kept secret. Our shop is going to be in the heart and centre of Ballina, six or seven days a week.”

There is no indication when the new restaurant will open its doors but Tony said to “bear with us” and he expects this work to take a few months.
