Popular Mayo supermarket celebrates 25th year in business

Castlebar celebrated the 25th anniversary of the popular grocery retail chain ALDI.

In 1999, the first ALDI stores opened on Parnell Street in Co. Dublin and Westside Retail Park in Co. Cork.

A quarter of a decade later, the thriving retail chain operates in 161 locations across Ireland.

To commemorate the occasion, ALDI shared 25 facts. For example, did you know ALDI first sold avocados in April 2012?

In addition, ALDI is highlighting the stories of dedicated employees who have been with the company for many years.

Three employees of Castlebar’s ALDI have been recognised. Emily Devanney, Miriam Kelly and Leona Callaghan have worked in the store for over 20 years.
