Gavin's Cafe, on Westport's Bridge Street, announced its closure in a Facebook post.
Saturday, October 5, marked the final day of the popular restaurant in the heart of Westport.
The owners extended heartfelt thanks to both the loyal patrons and the Westport business community. The Facebook post also acknowledged the legacy of the Gavin family, especially Anne Fitzgerald.
“We are all too aware that Gavin's Cafe has been a primary meeting place in the heart of Westport for many years and we can't make this announcement without acknowledging the Gavin family and most specifically Anne (Gavin) Fitzgerald who devoted so many years of her life to this business.
“Sincere thanks to everyone who has worked at and frequented Gavins over the years and many thanks to the Westport business community for welcoming Nikki and I to the neighbourhood.”
Looking ahead, the owners are excited to announce a new chapter: á Thai Noodle Bar will soon open in the same location. The concept draws inspiration from owner Nikki’s authentic Thai family recipes.
“Aside from the very challenging financial burdens of the cafe trade it was always our dream to develop our own Thai food concept and that process begins at this location on Monday.
“With that all being said, we are proud to announce that á Thai Noodle Bar is coming soon to Westport.
“Drawing on Nikki's authentic Thai family recipes she has created a simple, healthy menu and we are developing a fun, relaxed environment for all ages to enjoy.”
