Planning sought for Mayo housing development
A planning application has been lodged with Mayo County Council for the project.
An application has been lodged with Mayo County Council seeking planning permission for the construction of a new housing development in East Mayo.
Seamus O’Brien & Sons Builders Ltd propose to construct 14 homes in Cordarragh, Kiltimagh.
The planned development would be made up of a mix of house types, including six two-bedroom homes, five three-bedroom homes and three four-bedroom homes.
The developer states that the project will “be developed to foster a sense of place and identity created by the quality of house type designs and landscaping design.
“The design responds in a positive way to the established pattern and form to the wider scale of developments in the surrounding area. The height, scale and massing of the development is in keeping with adjoining developments,” a design statement added.
The building firm stated that following discussions with local estate agents, it had identified a shortage of two- and three-bedroom homes in the area, particularly for smaller families. The company said the proposed homes would also be suitable for single parents and first-time buyers.
The developer also stated that there is a recognised need for four-bedroom homes to accommodate larger families and provide a suitable mix of housing within the development.
Mayo County Council is set to rule on the project in November.
