Planned road closures in county area as part of Mayo Day celebrations

There are a number of planned road closures in order to facilitate Mayo Day in Belmullet.

Mayo County Council is planning to close a number of roads as part of the Mayo Day celebrations taking place in Belmullet.

The Erris town will stage the event on Saturday, May 4.

It is proposed to put in place a number of road closures and diversions in order to facilitate the occasion.

The Belmullet Docks will be closed from 7am on Wednesday, May 1 to 3pm on Monday, May 6. There will be limited car parking available for residents.

The Aras Inis Gluaire middle car park will be closed from 10am on Thursday, May 2 to 10am on Monday, May 6.

Carter Square, Lower Barrack Street, and Barrack Street from its junction with Main Street will be closed on Saturday, May 4, as will Main Street from its junction with the R313 at Carter Square to its junction with Quay Street.

Any objections to the proposed temporary closures must be submitted in writing to Mayo County Council by Friday, April 12.

Mayo Day will celebrate ten years this year with Belmullet staging the event as part of the the town's 200th-year anniversary festivities.
