Mayo Day is the “envy” of every local authority in the county, a meeting heard.

Mayo Day made its debut in Belmullet this year and anyone fortunate enough to be there will testify it was a success. It chimed perfectly with the town’s 200th anniversary celebrations and the town was a hive of activity on May 4th.

Mayo County Council is planning to close a number of roads as part of the Mayo Day celebrations taking place in Belmullet. The Erris town will stage the event on Saturday, May 4.

The weeks are counting down to the tenth anniversary celebrations of Mayo Day which will take place on Saturday, May 4th. To celebrate Mayo Day turning ten, Mayo County Council is organising two Mayo Day events - one at home and one international.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Mayo Day and Home to Mayo 2024, Mayo County Council is bringing the magic of Mayo Day all the way to the Windy City of Chicago this year.

Home to Mayo will take place during May this year and is aimed at supporting events that encourage our diaspora to travel home to the county during that month.

Mayo Day 2024 is set to take place in Belmullet. Bemullet is to host the county’s yearly event as part of the town’s bicentenary celebrations. The news emerged at Mayo County Council’s annual budget meeting.
