Photographs of former Mayors and Cathaoirligh of Castebar had to be rescued from a skip.

Current Cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District told the monthly meeting of Castlebar councillors that photographs going back to the days of Castlebar Town Council had to be salvaged from a skip by a keen-eyed staff member. Castlebar councillor’s former HQ at Marsh House boasted the framed photographs which were later discovered discarded in a skip.

Cllr Deere praised vigilant staff member Dwyane Jordan for rescuing the portraits but stated they should never have been cast aside in the first place.
