Pedestrian killed in Mayo road crash

The fatal collision which saw a pedestrian lose his life occurred last night.

A man in his 40s has died after he was struck by a car near Balla.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following last night's fatal collision.

Shortly before 11pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.

The pedestrian, a male in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
