Passing of Mayo historian and author Michael Mullen widely mourned

Michael Mullen (RIP).
There is very sad news emanating from the county town this weekend following the death of Michael Mullen, Rathbawn Drive, Castlebar.
He died peacefully yesterday in Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.
Mullen was one of Mayo's most popular and prolific authors and a noted historian. He has produced several novels, children's books, short stories and plays, including "Hungry Land", "House of Mirrors" and "The Golden Key"
For his decades long work, Michael received the Apprecation Award at the first Wild Atlantic Words Festival back in 2016 in his hometown.
Deeply regretted by his loving wife Deirdre, brother Tim, sister Maureen, sisters-in-law Emer, Margaret and Anniemaye, brothers-in-law Diarmuid and Ciaran, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Michael will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5.30pm with removal at 7pm to The Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Requiem Mass takes place on Wednesday at 11.30am followed by burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
