More than 570 employees at Vantive’s Castlebar and Swinford operations have signed up to support the development of the Sunflower Children’s Hospice, as the global healthcare company officially launched a new three-year fundraising partnership with the charity.

Vantive employs approximately 1,200 people across its Castlebar and Swinford sites. Employees who take part contribute approximately €10 per month, or €2.50 per week, to the Sunflower Children’s Hospice. Four employees will each win €250 every month, with €1,000 in prizes available in total.

As part of the three-year partnership, Vantive has committed to contributing alongside the monies raised through the employee donations, helping generate significant support within the region of €300,000 for the Sunflower Children’s Hospice over the course of the partnership.

The Sunflower Children’s Hospice is being developed by the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation in Castlebar and will provide specialist palliative care and support to children with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their parents, siblings and wider families across eight counties on the western seaboard.

Martin Cosgrove, Head of HR of Vantive, said:

“We are delighted to partner with the Sunflower Children’s Hospice and incredibly proud of the response from our employees in Castlebar and Swinford. The fact that our workforce that over 570 has already signed up to the monthly draw is testament to how much this cause means to our people and to the communities in which we operate.

The Sunflower Children’s Hospice will provide an essential service for children and families across the west of Ireland. We are proud to support the development of this much-needed service and to play our part in helping make the hospice a reality. We look forward to continuing to build on the incredible response from our employees over the coming three years.”

Martina Jennings, CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to Vantive and to its employees in Castlebar and Swinford for getting behind the Sunflower Children’s Hospice in such an extraordinary way. There’s been a phenomenal response to the monthly draw and it demonstrates the generosity of the team.

The Sunflower Children’s Hospice will provide specialist care and support to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, much closer to home. For families who currently have to travel long distances to access specialist children’s hospice care, having this service in the west of Ireland will make a huge difference. Partnerships with businesses like Vantive are helping us turn that vision into reality.”

The Sunflower Children’s Hospice will be the first children’s hospice to be built outside Dublin and the first of its kind to be constructed in Ireland since 2011. A site has already been secured in Castlebar, with the Government and HSE committed to supporting clinical governance.
