Sad loss of soccer stalwart Frank Foy

The late Frank Foy was a devoted supporter of Castlebar Celtic and a popular figure in the county town.

The soccer community in Mayo is in mourning following the death of a well-known figure within the sport.

Frank Foy, McHale Road, Castlebar, passed away peacefully at University College Hospital Galway.

A former employee of AIB in Castlebar, Frank was a hugely popular figure in the county town and was a familiar face at Celtic Park where he followed his beloved Castlebar Celtic.

 “Everyone at Castlebar Celtic are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, supporter and lifelong club member Frank Foy. The place won’t be the same without him Sincere condolences to his family at this sad time," said the club.

The Mayo Football League also shared their condolences with Frank's family and loved ones.

“A lifelong Castlebar Celtic supporter and club member, Frank was one of the familiar faces that was always there when you would visit Celtic Park.

“Sincere condolences to his family, friends and everyone at Castlebar Celtic at this sad time."
