Erris in mourning for ‘true gentleman’ Chris Tallott

The late Chris Tallott was hugely respected across the Barony of Erris.
Tributes have been paid to the former club captain of Belmullet Golf Club Chris Tallott who passed away last week.
Mr Tallott, of Attycunnane, Belmullet, was an outstanding community man who was involved in a large number of voluntary organisations including Erris Lions Club. He was captain of Belmullet Golf Club in 2013 and represented the club in countless inter-club and Gráinne Uaile competitions. He was a captain’s prize winner in 2003, in the same year his wife Sheila was ladies captain, a proud day for him and all his family.
The Golf Club paid tribute to Chris as did Erris Men’s Shed where he was a member for many years.
“We will miss Chris in the Erris Men’s Shed as he has been a long-standing member and a friend and a true gentleman," they wrote on social media.
Predeceased by his parents Anthony and Mary, he is survived by his wife Sheila, children Orla (Ballaghaderreen), Chris (Melbourne), Gráinne (Amsterdam), Mary (Tallaghan Ban), Bróna (Roy), and Emer (Tallagh), sister Maura (Luton), grandchildren Holly, Eva, Tommy, Charlie, Alistair, Kate, Owen, Jack, Oliver, Julie, Maggie, Billy and Hannah, daughter-in-law Carmen, sons-in-law Fergal, Owen, Gordon and Liam, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, wonderful neighbours, relatives, many friends and former colleagues at Bord na Móna.
Funeral Mass for Chris was held at The Church of the Sacred Heart, Belmullet on Sunday morning and he was laid to rest in Glencastle New Cemetery afterwards.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
