Number of Mayo motorists caught speeding yesterday

Mayo Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checkpoints on the N5 in Charlestown yesterday evening in wet driving conditions and detected a number of motorists exceeding the 100km/h speed limit, including the following:
- A campervan was detected travelling at 137km/h in a 100km/h speed zone, resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points.
- A driver was detected travelling at 141km/h in 100km/h zone, resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points.
- A driver was detected travelling at 143km/h in 100km/h zone, resulting in a 160euro fine and three penalty points.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated: "Slow down. Drive safe. Arrive alive."
