North Mayo quarry development appealed to An Bord Pleánala

An Bord Pleanála will adjudicate on the appeal.

Mayo County Council’s decision to grant planning for the development of an inert waste recovery facility at a quarry in North Mayo has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

As part of the planning process, the council’s planning department carried out a report and deemed that the proposed development at the quarry at Mullafarry, Killala is considered acceptable and is considered to be in accordance with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. Planners recommended that planning permission be granted for the proposed development.

On February 1 last, the council followed the recommendation of the planning department and granted planning permission to BP Mitchell Haulage and Plant Hire for the proposed development of the inert waste recovery facility subject to several conditions.

A third-party appeal was lodged with An Bord Pleanála regarding this decision on February 28 last.

An Bord Pleanala has said it will make a decision on the case by July 2, 2024.
