No more bags of turf but Maxwell brings picture to Belmullet
Louisburgh native, Chris Maxwell, has been added to the Fianna Fáil ticket for the upcoming local election in the Westport electoral area.
A councillor has presented a picture to the office of the Belmullet Municipal District.
Before last week’s Westport-Belmullet municipal meeting, Independent Ireland Cllr Chris Maxwell presented a picture of Clew Bay to the Belmullet office to show his appreciation for the warm welcome he had received from the staff and councillors.
“I didn’t bring any turf because I know there is loads of it in Belmullet,” remarked Cllr Maxwell, in reference to a recent meeting of Mayo Co Council where he brought a bag of turf into the chamber to highlight concerns over proposed bans on commercial turf-cutting.
