COMMUNITY NOTES: BALLINA - WESTERN PEOPLE (OCTOBER 29 EDITION)

The Moy Singers has welcomed a new musical director. The Ballina-based four-part mixed choir will see Shona Seck lead the singers as the group bids farewell to its former musical director, Alf Potter.

As a teenager, Shona completed her Royal Irish Academy of Music musical theatre and popular singing examinations with distinction. In 2017, she was awarded a degree in Voice and Dance from the University of Limerick and completed her MA in Voice Pedagogy (Professional Practice) in 2022. Earlier this year, Shona opened her own voice and performance teaching academy, Spotlight Vocal Studio in Ballina.

Shona, a past member of The Moy Singers, is now busy preparing the group for its Carols by Candlelight concert in the Great National Hotel Ballina on Friday, November 22.

Meanwhile, the members of the group have thanked the talented Alf Potter for his hard work and dedication over the years, first as its accompanist and later as its musical director.
