Moy Valley Resources is proud to announce its collaboration with Mayo Sports Partnership, the Western People, Castlebar Chamber of Commerce, and Mayo County Council in the delivery of this year’s highly anticipated West of Ireland Women’s Mini-Marathon.

Armed with the learnings from 2023 and 2024, Moy Valley Resources once again supporting the running – excuse the pun - of this event and ensuring that everyone who takes part has the best day possible.

This collaborative initiative brings together key stakeholders across the public, private, and community sectors, with a shared vision to empower women, promote health and wellbeing, and celebrate community spirit in the West of Ireland – all encompassed in a day of fun, achievements and celebrations. Taking place in Castlebar on Sunday, May 4th, the Mini-Marathon will bring 2,000 participants from across the region and beyond along with family and friends to the county town to create an atmosphere second to none.

“The Mini-Marathon is about more than just running,” said Annette Maughan, CEO of Moy Valley Resources IRD. “It’s about celebrating women of all ages and abilities who want to do something for themselves and often, for a charity close to their hearts. To participate in such a powerful and inclusive event is empowering for many women, and, whether walking, jogging or sprinting around the 10k route, every woman there is supporting every other woman there too.

"We were so delighted to be asked to assist in the organising and delivery of the event again this year and we are all looking forward to the buzz on The Mall next Sunday.”

The event is the brainchild of the Western People, who approached the Mayo Sports Partnership in 2009 to provide the physical activity expertise and operational and organisational oversight for the inaugural event in May 2010. Other long-term partners include Castlebar Chamber of Commerce, who actively engage the local business community and assist with sponsorship and public relations, and Mayo County Council, which offers logistical and infrastructural support with a team of staff to boot.

Moy Valley Resources has undertaken an administration, public relations, marketing and operation/organisational role in the delivery of the biggest female-focused event in the West of Ireland. The company is always eager to support initiatives that result in social and economic benefits and the West of Ireland Mini-Marathon certainly does that.
