Galway City Council has advised motorists of 'considerable' traffic disruption in Salthill this June Bank Holiday weekend due to a significant sports event taking place.

The 'Salthill Fives' soccer tournament begins in Salthill Park this Saturday, June 1 and will run for two days until Sunday, June 2.

Five-a-side teams from around Connacht and beyond will compete for the €2,000 prize in the popular seaside area of Galway.

Gardaí in Salthill advises the public that a large attendance is expected, bringing a substantial amount of traffic to the area.

The city council has encouraged people to allow plenty of time for travel and are asked to park responsibly in Salthill.
