Both the Bryan and Gordon ALB and Clann Lir ILB were requested by Malin Head Coast Guard to launch recently.
A report of a missing kayaker who had failed to make contact with his friend on shore alerted the emergency services.
The pagers were activated at 17.13, and both crews promptly proceeded to the location of last sighting, which was Portacloy beach.
While en route, there was a reported sighting of an individual on the rocks. This brought hope to all involved in the search.
Soon after, the inshore crew were stood down with confirmation by the Garda Síochána that the casualty was safe and well and on terra firma again.
