Mayo travel routes disrupted as Storm Bert makes landfall

There are reports of a landslide that has made the Maam Valley impassable.

Bus Éireann has cancelled some of its Saturday morning services in Mayo on account of Storm Bert making landfall overnight.

The poor weather conditions have seen more than 50mm of rainfall in the Maam Valley since midnight, with the valley reportedly impassable due to a landslide.

The 7:05am and 9:05am buses from Clifden to Westport have been cancelled and the 7:01am and 9:10am buses from Westport to Clifden have also been cancelled.

Galway County Council said there is "extensive surface water flooding" on roads surrounding the Clifden area, including the N59 on the Galway side.

"River levels are rising but Council Team and Crews are on the ground and monitoring," the council said in a statement.
