Sam Maguire was today brought to the top of Croagh Patrick.

In a hugely symbolic gesture, members of Mayo team and management climbed Croagh Patrick with the treasured silverware.

It comes just over two weeks after climbing their own mountain and winning the All-Ireland SFC title, bringing Sam Maguire back to Mayo for the first time in 75 years.

A large group of players, management and backroom team completed the climb of Ireland’s holy mountain today alongside starstruck pilgrims and climbers.

The annual Reek Sunday pilgrimage took place on July 26, the same day as Mayo lifted Sam Maguire for the first time in 75 years.
