Five weeks after winning the All-Ireland, Mayo senior footballers stole the show at Electric Picnic.
A large group of the All-Ireland champions were invited on stage with The Saw Doctors during their performance of The Green and Red of Mayo on Sunday night.
A total of 14 Mayo players took to the stage – captain Jack Coyne, Kobe McDonald, Jordan Flynn, Enda Hession, Donnacha McHugh, Eoin McGreal, Darragh Beirne, Cian McHale, Matthew Ruane, Bob Tuohy, Dylan Thornton, Fenton Kelly, Frank Irwin and David McBrien were among the Mayo players to take to the stage in front of a crowd of over 50,000 people.
Also joining the footballers on stage were two other famous Mayo men – Tom Coll and Conor Deegan of Fountains DC, who headlined later that night.
Speaking to Today FM afterwards, Kobe McDonald described it as ‘the coolest thing I’ve ever done’.
They went down the centre strip of the main stage, dancing in front of the huge crowd while The Saw Doctors continued their set. Jordan Flynn credited Eoin McGreal with being the brave one to take the first steps down there!
Meanwhile David McBrien isn’t coming close to getting fed up at hearing The Saw Doctors’ classic, The Green and Red of Mayo.
“We’ll never get sick of listening to that – play it on repeat the whole time!” he told Today FM.
After The Saw Doctors, Fountains DC headlined the Sunday night and it has been announced that they will headline Slane Castle on June 16, 2027.
