Mayo support in full swing at Ballina's National Heritage Day 2026
Ballina Textile Group and Mayo supporters.
Earlier this week, this year's National Heritage Day treated the streets of Ballina to a day of traditional live music, culture and history.
Ballina is welcoming thousands of residents and visitors to the town for the Salmon Festival, and Wednesday was truly a day to remember, thanks to the incredible artists, craftspeople and musicians who took part.
The town was full of life, with the streets abuzz with craft, food, and drink stalls, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere throughout the day.
The streets and stalls certainly had a ‘Mayo for Sam’ theme, and locals proudly brought their encouragement and support to the occasion.
Many people wore Mayo jerseys, waved Mayo flags and had their faces painted to show their passionate support for the green and red. There was also a Mayo-themed Opel Corsa with ‘Mayo for Sam’ front and centre.
Most stalls had the traditional green and red flags hanging proudly alongside their products, while live music and dancing were also Mayo-themed.
The day highlighted the immense support behind the Mayo team ahead of next Sunday, while also showcasing how creative people can be in the county and beyond.
