Mayo athlete to compete at European U18 Athletics Championships this weekend

Westport AC running star Freya Renton is among a 25-strong Irish team who are in Rieti, Italy for the European Athletics U18 Championships, which got underway yesterday (Thursday) morning.
A host of highly ranked athletes feature on the team, with some gaining their first international experience for their country at a major championship event.
Renton, along with Ava Colreavy of Sligo AC, will compete in the Girls 3000m Final on Sunday morning. Colreavy’s 9:28.60 clocking is the fifth fastest on the entry list, with Renton’s season’s best of 9:33.70 also putting her inside the top ten.
Both girls are expected to be on track for the final at 9.05am Irish time this Sunday morning. You can watch her race here.
