COMMUNITY NOTES: BALLYHAUNIS - WESTERN PEOPLE (SEPTEMBER 17 EDITION)
The student population in Ballyhaunis Community School is now at 750, the largest figure since the school opened in the late 1970s.
Only 10 years ago the school population stood at 500 students, explained David McDonagh who added that the overall figure includes 136 first year students – an increase on last year’s intake.
“The numbers are very strong in recent years,” said McDonagh, a situation he describes as “wonderful” for the school which in 2017 completed a major extension.
