Mayo Roads Policing, with the assistance of the Road Safety Authority, were carrying out a high-visibility checkpoint on the N59 in North Mayo this morning.
They stated that they stopped an agricultural vehicle after the driver took a sudden detour on seeing the Roads Policing checkpoint ahead.
A check on the Insurance database using Active Mobility technology showed:
- Vehicle had no insurance, which the driver admitted.
- Driver admitted they had no valid driving licence.
- No tax; had expired over 3000 Days.
This resulted in the tractor being seized, and a court appearance will follow.
