Mayo road closed following serious traffic accident

A serious traffic accident occurred in Castlebar this morning.

A female pedestrian was struck by a lorry close to the junction of Pound Road and Gallow’s Hill this morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed to traffic.

The road has since reopened and Gardaí have issued a witness appeal.
