Mayo location makes prestigious world's top 50 list

A Mayo beach has made the list for 'The World's 50 Best Beaches' in 2025.

Keem Beach, located past Dooagh village in the west of Achill Island, is the only Irish beach to make the prestigious list.

The website (https://worlds50beaches.com/) describes the Mayo location as "set in a dramatic environment, Keem Beach stands out for its raw natural beauty and surprisingly blue waters, which resemble those found in more tropical locations."

It added: "What also makes Keem Beach stand out is its horseshoe-shaped bay, surrounded by towering cliffs and picturesque hills, creating calmer waters that are ideal for swimming in the summer."
