Mayo home among most expensive sold this year
The Clew Bay property was among the most expensive properties in the country purchased outside of Dublin.
A Mayo home was among the most expensive sold in Ireland, outside of Dublin, this year.
The (PPR) reveals that approximately 1,400 sales have been completed nationally for sums of €1 million and above. The figure shows an approximate 13% increase on the 1,235 sales transacted at this level in the same period last year and a 17% rise on the 1,200 €1 million-plus sales recorded in 2023.
The register shows that approximately 200 sales with a value of €2 million and above were completed in Ireland in the 11-month period to the end of November, while more than 50 homes changed hands for at least €3 million and approximately 20 homes sold for more than €4 million – with the most valuable sale coming in at €9.75 million.
Where they appear on the register, the recorded figure reflects the amount paid for the principal residence and up to an acre of land. When a residential property sale includes more than an acre of land, the value of that extra land is not included on the register.
Unsurprising, Dublin dominates the list of the most expensive homes sold in 2025, but a Mayo property is one of the most expensive purchased outside of the capital.
Clew Bay residence, Ross House, sold for staggering €3 million. Jutting into Clew Bay, the secluded and very private estate comprises some 70 acres (28.33 hectares). The historic home dates to circa 1838. With four reception rooms, six bedrooms and five bathrooms the accommodation within the house extends to some 4,778 square feet.
