Mayo group wins prestigious award at Fleadh Cheoil
The group performing to a packed house in Belfast at this year's Fleadh.
Cuimsiú Mhaigh Eo were among the recipients honoured with Gradam Inclusion Awards at Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann 2026 in Belfast.
Under the artistic direction of Chuck Dunford, the group gave a fantastic performance in the MAC Theatre before a distinguished gathering of guests, including President Catherine Connolly; Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly; First Minister Michelle O'Neill MLA; Communities Minister Gordon Lyons MLA; and, representing Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Dr Labhrás Ó Murchú, Ardstiúrthóir, and Attracta Ní Bhrádaigh, Uachtarán.
The award recognises the outstanding work of Cuimsiú Mhaigh Eo in promoting inclusion through traditional Irish music, and this national recognition is richly deserved.
Mayo Comhaltas launched Cuimsiú Mhaigh Eo in 2024 as an initiative to provide a welcoming performance space for musicians, singers, dancers, and traditional music fans, with additional needs or disabilities.
Minister Dara Calleary congratulated the group on the honour.
