Mayo GAA pay tribute to former player following his passing

Mayo GAA has paid tribute to one of their former players, Padraic Monaghan, following his passing.
Mayo GAA has paid tribute to one of their former players, Padraic Monaghan, following his passing.
In a statement, they said: "Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of Padraic Monaghan, Templeogue and formerly of Scardaune Claremorris Co.Mayo
"Padraic played wing-back on the St. Colman’s College team that captured the Hogan Cup in 1977. He then captained UCG, now University of Galway, to a Sigerson Cup in 1980. Padraic also won 3 County Titles with Garrymore in 1979, 1981 and 1982. He was also part of the 1982 All-Ireland Final team. Padraic was also a former player on the Mayo Senior, U21 and Minor panels.
"We offer our sympathies also to all in CLG Naomh Jude and Garrymore GAA Club and would like to express our deepest sympathy to Padraic’s wife, son and daughter, family, friend and his GAA club at this sad time."
Padraic reposes at Massey Bros. Funeral Home, Templeogue Village, on Thursday evening between 5pm and 7pm. Removal on Friday morning to St. Jude the Apostle Church, Templeogue, to arrive for 10am funeral mass followed thereafter by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium.
